ThinkAid Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has fed mentally challenged persons on the streets of Berekum East Municipality in the Bono Region.
The program which sorts only to locate the mentally retarded people at their hideouts on the streets of Berekum to supply them with a bowls of fried rice with fried chicken, a bottle of water and soft drinks each to unidentified mentally ill persons.
The director of Social welfare in the Berekum Municipality, Mr Alfred Gborglah, who took part of the program commended ThinkAid Foundation for their efforts in distributing ‘hot meals’ to the mentally ill people in Berekum.
He said most of the people have lost contact with their family members but said , out of the program, some of them were able to mentioned their home towns and some family members name.
He said , his outfit is available to help trace the family members of the mentally retarded persons within the Municipality and also to reunite the family with their mentally retarded persons.
The Founder of ThinkAid Foundation, Henry Kofi Adane , also added that, the Foundation is ever ready to support the people of Berekum in the areas of health, education, poverty, physical and mental disabilities and other areas of need to transform the lives of the people in Berekum.
He concluded that, this will not be the last time such programs will be showcased to assist the people who are in need.
He therefore appealed for the support of all and sundry to also come to the aid of the Foundation.
